How to use it
Preview your Google listing in three steps
- 1
Fetch or type
Paste a live URL and press Fetch to load its current title and description — or type new ones to test ideas before publishing. - 2
Watch the pixels
The meters and the preview update as you type. Red means Google will cut the text; the “What Google hides” map shows exactly what disappears. - 3
Fix and copy
Work through the snippet report until the score is green, switch to Mobile to double-check, then press Copy HTML tags and paste them into your page.
Write snippets that win the click
Six rules for a title and description people click
A higher position only helps if people choose your result. These habits lift click-through rate and reduce the chance Google rewrites your snippet.
Front-load what matters
Put the main topic or keyword in the first 40–50 characters of the title. Searchers scan the first few words, and they survive even when the end is cut.
Stay under 600 pixels
Long titles end in “…” and are more likely to be rewritten. Use the meter: green means the full title is visible on desktop and mobile.
Write the description like an ad
Lead with the benefit, add proof (a number, a result, a location) and finish with a clear action: book, compare, get a free quote.
Keep title and H1 in agreement
Google often replaces titles that do not match the page’s main heading. They do not need to be identical, but they should describe the same thing.
Make every page unique
Duplicate or boilerplate titles such as “Home” or “Services” waste your best ranking signal and confuse searchers. Each URL deserves its own promise.
Avoid stuffing and shouting
Repeating a keyword three times or WRITING IN CAPITALS looks spammy, lowers trust and invites a rewrite. Write for people; the keyword once is enough.

What is a SERP simulator?
A SERP simulator shows how a page’s title tag, meta description and URL will look in Google’s search engine results page (SERP) before you publish. It measures the text in pixels, the way Google does, so you can see exactly where a long title or description will be cut off on desktop and on mobile.
Why does Google cut off my title?
Google truncates titles by pixel width, not by character count. Titles wider than roughly 600 pixels (about 55–60 characters in Arial 20 px) are cut and end with an ellipsis. Wide letters such as W and M use more space than narrow ones such as i and l, which is why two titles of the same length can behave differently.
How long should a meta description be?
Aim for about 920–960 pixels on desktop (around 150–158 characters) and keep the key message in the first 680 pixels (about 110–120 characters), because mobile results show less. Lead with the benefit and a call to action rather than saving them for the end.
Why does Google show a different title or description from mine?
Google rewrites titles when they are too long, stuffed with keywords, boilerplate (for example “Home”), or a poor match for the page’s main heading or the searcher’s query. Descriptions are often replaced by a passage from the page that better matches the query. Clear, specific, well-sized tags that agree with your H1 are rewritten far less often.
Is the preview exactly what Google will show?
It is a close, pixel-based approximation using Google’s fonts and widths. Real results can also show dates, ratings, sitelinks, images or a rewritten snippet depending on the query and device, so treat the simulator as the best-case view you control.
Does the simulator store what I type?
No. The preview runs entirely in your browser. Only the optional “Fetch” button contacts our server, to read the live title and description from the page you enter.
